Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. 29 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 Said Allah, “Therefore exit from Paradise, for you are an outcast.” 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 He answered: 'You are among those reprieved 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 Iblis said, "Lord, because you have caused me to go astray, I shall make earthly things attractive to (people) and mislead all of them 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
