The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and gushing water, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
