The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 For a mighty day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 and when they returned to their people they returned blithely, 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
God the Almighty always says the truth.
