O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 And surely this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, therefore be careful (of your duty) to Me. 52 But they cut off their religion among themselves into sects, each part rejoicing in that which is with them. 53 Leave them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they assume that the wealth and sons which We provide them – 55 We [but want to] make them vie with one another in doing [what they consider] good works? Nay, but they do not perceive [their error]! 56 Those who tremble with fear of their Lord; 57 who believe in the verses of their Lord; 58 Those who join not (in worship) partners with their Lord; 59 And those who give what they give (in alms) while their hearts are full of fear that to their Lord they must return, 60 those vie in good works, outracing to them. 61 We do not burden a soul beyond capacity, for We have a record that tells the truth. No wrong will be done to any one. 62 Nay, their hearts are in overwhelming ignorance with respect to it and they have besides this other deeds which they do. 63 Until when We lay hold of the luxuriant ones of them with the torment, and lo! then they are imploring! 64 Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped. 65 My revelations were recited unto you, but ye used to turn back on your heels, 66 waxing proud against it, talking foolish talk by night.' 67 Have they not pondered the Word, or hath that come unto them which came not unto their fathers of old? 68 Or did they not recognise their Messenger and so denied him? 69 Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth. 70 But if the Truth had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away. 71 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask them for payment? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the best of providers. 72 (Muhammad), you certainly have called them to the right path, 73 And verily those who believe not in the Hereafter are from the path deviating. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro. 75 And indeed We grasped them with punishment, so neither did they submit themselves to their Lord, nor do they cry humbly. 76 until, when We open against them a door of terrible chastisement, lo, they are sore confounded at it. 77
