The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virginal, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the right. 38
