The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The piercing star! 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
