The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
