Pilgrimage (Al-Hajj)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ O mankind! Fear your Lord. Lo! the earthquake of the Hour (of Doom) is a tremendous thing. 1 on the day when you behold it, every suckling woman shall neglect the child she has suckled, and every pregnant woman shall deposit her burden, and thou shalt see mankind drunk, yet they are not drunk, but God's chastisement is terrible. 2 And among men there is such a one that disputes concerning God without knowledge and follows every rebel Satan, 3 Against him it is written down that whoever takes him for a friend, he shall lead him astray and conduct him to the chastisement of the burning fire. 4 O people! If you are in doubt about the Resurrection, remember that We first created you from dust, then from a sperm drop, then from clotted blood, then a lump of flesh, both shaped and unshaped, so that We might manifest to you [Our power]. We cause what We will to stay in the womb for an appointed time, then We bring you forth as infants and then We cause you to grow and reach full growth. Then, some of you will pass away early in life, while some of you will reach extreme old age in which they will know nothing of what they once knew. You see the earth, dead and barren, but no sooner do We send down rain upon it than it begins to stir and swell, and produce every kind of luxuriant vegetation: 5 that is because God is the truth. It is He who gives life to the dead and He has the power to will anything. 6 And [that they may know] that the Hour is coming - no doubt about it - and that Allah will resurrect those in the graves. 7 And among men there is such a one that disputes concerning God without knowledge or guidance, or an illuminating Book, 8 Turning their backs that they may lead away from the path of God. For such there is disgrace in the world, and on the Day of Judgement We shall make them taste the torment of burning. 9 That is on account of what you had done in the past; yet God is not unjust to His creatures. 10
