Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ He said: "What is then your business, O messengers?" 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 We therefore found just one house over there that was Muslim. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But he turned away with his forces and said: A magician or a mad man. 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 So they were not able to rise up, nor could they defend themselves- 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
