(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 32 The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie. 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 40
