The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 And by oath of the day when it reveals it 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 And inspired it with the wickedness thereof and the piety thereof, 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
