Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 which then blow tempestuously 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 Then separate them one from another, 4 By those who bring down the Reminder, 5 To end all argument or to warn. 6 Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. 7 So when stars are effaced. 8 And when the sky is split apart. 9 The mountains will be blown away as dust. 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 And what do you know, what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 15 Did We not destroy [so many of] those [sinners] of olden days? 16 and make others settle after them in their land? 17 As such shall We deal with the sinners. 18 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 19 Did We not create you from an abject fluid? 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 for an appointed term? 22 We determined; excellent determiners are We. 23 On that day, woe would be upon those who have rejected the revelations of God! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle, 25 The living and the dead, 26 And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 28 Depart to that which you belied! 29 Depart unto the shadow three branched: 30 "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. 31 that shoots sparks like dry faggots, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 34 This is a day in which they will not be able to speak. 35 Nor shall they be permitted so that they might excuse themselves. 36 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 37 That is the Day of Judgment. We will bring you together with all the ancient peoples. 38 So if you have a plan, then plan against Me. 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
