The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
