He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
