The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit? 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 It swept people away as if they were trunks of uprooted palm trees. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
