Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
