The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
