And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
