The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 And gardens and springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
