۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 Then he will say [to his blessed companions], "Are we not going to die, 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
