The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
