Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician 109 “He wishes to expel you all from your kingdom; so what do you advise?” 110 They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while); and send to the cities men to collect- 111 to summon every skilful magician to your presence.' 112 And so the sorcerers came to Fir'aun (Pharaoh). They said: "Indeed there will be a (good) reward for us if we are the victors." 113 He said: "Yes, and moreover you will (in that case) be of the nearest (to me)." 114 They said: 'Moses, will you throw first or shall we be the throwers' 115 He answered: "You throw [first]." And when they threw down [their staffs,] they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and struck them with awe, and produced mighty sorcery. 116 Then We revealed to Moses: 'Now, throw down your staff' And thereupon it swallowed up their false invention. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 So they were vanquished there, and they turned about, humbled. 119 And the enchanters were thrown down, prostrating (themselves). 120 saying, "We declare our belief in the Lord of the Universe, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Firaun, “You have accepted faith in Him before I gave you permission! This is indeed a grand conspiracy you have plotted in the city, in order to expel its people from it; so now you will come to know!” 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and then crucify you all!" 124 They said: "For us, We are but sent back unto our Lord: 125 You would take revenge on us only because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Lord, pour patience upon us and let us die as submitters (Muslims)' 126
