The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
