The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A written record, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
