۞ Set forth to them the parable of two men: for one of them We provided two gardens of grape-vines and surrounded them with date palms; in between the two We placed corn-fields. 32 and a stream flowing through the middle of the gardens. 33 So he became rich. Arguing one day with his friend he said: "I have more wealth than you and more powerful kinsmen." 34 And he went into his garden, while he (thus) wronged himself. He said: I think not that all this will ever perish. 35 And I do not think the Hour will occur. And even if I should be brought back to my Lord, I will surely find better than this as a return." 36 His companion replied, in the course of their discussion, "Do you deny Him who created you from dust, from a small drop of fluid, then formed you into a man? 37 "But (I think) for my part that He is Allah, My Lord, and none shall I associate with my Lord. 38 Why, when thou wentest into thy garden, didst thou not say, "As God will; there is no power except in God"? If thou seest me, that I am less than thou in wealth and children, 39 maybe my Lord will give me a garden better than yours, and send down a thunderbolt from heaven, so that in the morning it will be a slope of dust, 40 "Or the water of the garden will run off underground so that thou wilt never be able to find it." 41 And his wealth was destroyed; so he began to wring his hands for what he had spent on it, while it lay, having fallen down upon its roofs, and he said: Ah me! would that I had not associated anyone with my Lord. 42 Nor had he numbers to help him against Allah, nor was he able to deliver himself. 43 (Then he knew) that all power of protection rests with Allah, the True One. He is the best to reward, the best to determine the end of things. 44
