Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
