And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers. 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 Said Allah, “They will soon wake up at morn, regretting.” 40 So the punishment overtook them in justice, and We made them as rubbish; so away with the unjust people. 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 Then We sent Our Messengers in succession, every time there came to a nation their Messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another (to destruction), and We made them as Ahadith (the true stories for mankind to learn a lesson from them). So away with a people who believe not. 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk. 46 They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us?" 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign; and We sheltered the twain on a height: a quiet abode and running water. 50
