The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 And gardens and springs. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
