Now, behold, this [divine writ] has indeed been bestowed from on high by the Sustainer of all the worlds: 192 trustworthy divine inspiration has alighted with it from on high 193 Upon your heart (O Muhammad SAW) that you may be (one) of the warners, 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter the hearts of the sinners. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" 203 Seek haste then they with our torment? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, - 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 what avail will their past enjoyments be to them? 207 Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 And this Qur'an was not brought down by the devils. 210 It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power, 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 And warn your tribe (O Muhammad SAW) of near kindred. 214 And lower thou thy wing unto those who follow thee as believers. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 and when thou turnest about among those who bow. 219 For it is He Who heareth and knoweth all things. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 They incline their ears, and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
