The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
