Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of those which carry away while dispersing. 1 and the burden-bearers 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good. 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
