The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
