And certainly We created you, then We fashioned you, then We said to the angels: Prostrate to Adam. So they did prostrate except Iblis; he was not of those who prostrated. 11 He (Allah) asked: 'What prevented you to prostrate, when I commanded you' 'I am better than he' he replied. 'You created me of fire and You created him of clay' 12 He said: Then go down hence! It is not for thee to show pride here, so go forth! Lo! thou art of those degraded. 13 Satan asked the Lord to give him respite (keep him alive) until the Day of Resurrection. 14 [Allah] said, "Indeed, you are of those reprieved." 15 [Satan] said, "Because You have put me in error, I will surely sit in wait for them on Your straight path. 16 and come upon them from the front and from the rear, from their right and from their left. Then, You shall find most of them ungrateful' 17 He said, “Exit from here, rejected, outcast; indeed whoever among them follows your bidding, I will fill hell with all of you.” 18 "O Adam! dwell thou and thy wife in the Garden, and enjoy (its good things) as ye wish: but approach not this tree, or ye run into harm and transgression." 19 But the Shaitan made an evil suggestion to them that he might make manifest to them what had been hidden from them of their evil inclinations, and he said: Your Lord has not forbidden you this tree except that you may not both become two angels or that you may (not) become of the immortals. 20 And he swore [by Allah] to them, "Indeed, I am to you from among the sincere advisors." 21 So he misled them with deception. Then when they tasted of the tree, that which was hidden from them of their shame (private parts) became manifest to them and they began to stick together the leaves of Paradise over themselves (in order to cover their shame). And their Lord called out to them (saying): "Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you: Verily, Shaitan (Satan) is an open enemy unto you?" 22 They replied, "Our Lord, we have wronged our souls: if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we shall be among the lost." 23 (Allah) said: "Get down, one of you an enemy to the other [i.e. Adam, Hawwa (Eve), and Shaitan (Satan), etc.]. On earth will be a dwelling-place for you and an enjoyment, - for a time." 24 He said, “You shall live there and there shall you die, and from there only you will be raised.” 25
