And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 From Fir'awn; verily he was haughty and of the extravagant. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 and sent them revelations of which some were a clear trial for them. 33 Verily these! they say: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals. 37 We did not idly create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them; 38 We created them not save with a purpose but most of them know not. 39 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, 40 A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped, 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42
