The Column (Al-Suff)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
All that is in the heavens and the earth glorify God. He is the Majestic and All-wise. 1 Believers! Why do you say one thing and do another. 2 It is most loathsome in the sight of Allah that you should profess what you do not practise. 3 God loves those who fight in His way in ranks, as though they were a building well-compacted. 4 And when Musa said to his people: O my people! why do you give me trouble? And you know indeed that I am Allah's apostle to you; but when they turned aside, Allah made their hearts turn aside, and Allah does not guide the transgressing people. 5 And when Jesus, son of Mary, said: "O children of Israel, I am sent to you by God to confirm the Torah (sent) before me, and to give you good tidings of an apostle who will come after me, whose name is Ahmad (the praised one)." Yet when he has come to them with clear proofs, they say: "This is only magic." 6 Who could be more wicked than one who invents lies about God when called to submit to Him? God does not guide the wrongdoers: 7 They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths but Allah will perfect His light, though the unbelievers may be averse. 8 It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the true religion to stand supreme over all religions, even though the pagans may dislike it. 9
