The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
