Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O the One Wrapped in piety! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 We are about to reveal to you a mighty word. 5 Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). 6 Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
