A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
206 verses, revealed in Mecca after S (Saad) before Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 A Book sent down to thee -- so let there be no impediment in thy breast because of it -- to warn thereby, and as a reminder to believers: 2 O mankind, follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and do not follow other administrators, abandoning this (the Holy Qur’an); very little do you understand. 3 And how many a [rebellious] community have We destroyed, with Our punishment coming upon it by night, or while they were resting at noontide! 4 and they but cried, when Our might came upon there, 'We were evildoers.'; 5 Thus, [on Judgment Day] We shall most certainly call to account all those unto whom a [divine] message was sent, and We shall most certainly call to account the message-bearers [themselves]; 6 with full knowledge, We shall tell them what they did, for We have never been away from them. 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 and those whose scales are light will be the losers, for they, are the ones who have been unjust to Our signs. 9 YEA, INDEED, [O men,] We have given you a [bountiful] place on earth, and appointed thereon means of livelihood for you: [yet] how seldom are you grateful! 10
