And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
