The tribe of Thamud rejected the Messengers. 141 Recall when their brother Salih said to them: "Have you no fear?" 142 Truly, I am a trustworthy messenger for you, 143 so fear God and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death], 146 “In gardens and water springs?” 147 "And corn-fields and date-palms with spathes near breaking (with the weight of fruit)? 148 "And you carve houses out of mountains with great skill. 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 Do not obey the orders of the transgressors 151 Who spread corruption in the earth, and reform not. 152 They replied, "Surely you are bewitched. 153 You are a mere mortal like us. Show us a miracle if you are telling the Truth". 154 He said: (Behold) this she-camel. She hath the right to drink (at the well), and ye have the right to drink, (each) on an appointed day. 155 And touch her not with ill lest there come on you the retribution of an awful day. 156 But they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 So the torment took hold of them: verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 158 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 159
