The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 that hide, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
