Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 Do not betray me 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, of a truth we were in error manifest 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
