The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 Until a space of two bow (arcs) or even less remained, 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 [And withal,] the eye did not waver, nor yet did it stray: 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 "What! For you the males and for Him the females?" 21 That indeed were an unfair division! 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath sent down no authority. They follow but their fancy, and that which pleaseth their souls; whereas assuredly there hath come unto them from their Lord the guidance. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25
