Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 you cannot escape Him anywhere on earth. You have no protector or helper other than God. 31 Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His. 32 If He pleases, He causes the wind to become still so that they lie motionless on its back; most surely there are signs in this for every patient, grateful one, 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 And that those who argue concerning Our revelations may know they have no refuge. 35 That which has been given to you is only the wherewithal of the transient life of this world. But that which is with Allah is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; 36 And those who avoid the greater sins, and Al-Fawahish (illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), and when they are angry, they forgive 37 Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance; 38 And those who, when great wrong is done to them, defend themselves, 39 The meed of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereunto; but whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his hire is on Allah; verily He approveth not the wrong-doers. 40 And whosoever helps himself after he has been wronged -- against them there is no way. 41 blame falls only on those who wrong men and transgress on this earth without justification, such will have a painful punishment, 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
