The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 hastening towards the Crier. Those who deny the truth will cry, "This is such a hard day!" 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 22
