Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a lofty Garden – 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 None will eat except the Khati'un (sinners, disbelievers, polytheists, etc.). 37
