Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
