۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?' 52 They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them. 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester? 55 He said: "Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth which He created and to that I bear witness before you. 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 Then he made them fragments, all except the big one of them, that haply unto it they may return. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 Some of them said: "We heard a youth called Abraham speak (ill) of them." 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 [And when he came.] they asked: "Hast thou done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: rather he hath wrought it, this big one of them; so question them, if they ever speak. 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 Abraham said: "Do you, then, worship beside Allah a thing that can neither benefit you nor hurt you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said, 'Burn him, and help your gods, if you would do aught.' 68 We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim; 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lout (Lot) to the land which We have blessed for the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
