In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By (the wind) those sent (as horses') mane (in succession), 1 which then blow tempestuously 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 By those who winnow with a winnowing, 4 and by those who reveal revelations (to the prophets) 5 To clear or to warn. 6 surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall! 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is cloven asunder. 9 And when the mountains are carried away by wind. 10 And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed; 11 For what day has the term [of all this] been set? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what do you know, what the Day of Decision is! 14 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 And We shall let them be followed by those of later times: 17 [for] thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin. 18 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 19 Did We not create you from an abject fluid? 20 Which We laid up in a safe abode 21 till a known term decreed? 22 So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers! 23 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 24 Have We not made the earth a repository 25 For the living and the dead among you? 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and filled you with sweet water? 27 On that Day (of Judgment) woe would be upon those who have rejected God's revelations! 28 (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false! 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 affording neither shade, nor protection from the flames, 31 it indeed throws up sparks like castles, 32 As if they were tawny camels. 33 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 34 that Day on which they will not [be able to] utter a word, 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have brought you and the men of old together. 38 So if you have a plot, use it against Me (Allah)! 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40
