The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
